Dr Raj Harjani is one of the few doctors who dared to touch HIV infected patients and treat HIV related opportunistic infection in 1993. He has facility to admit the HIV infected patients in his Ashirwad Hospital, Kopri, Thane East. Dr Raj Harjani is a practicing Skin and Venereal disease specialist since 1979. He has done his graduation (M.B.B.S.) from Topiwala National Municipal Medical College and B.Y.L. Nair Hospital, Mumbai Central, Mumbai, M.S., India. and his post graduation in Skin and Venereal Diseases (D.V.& D) from Seth G.S.Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital, Parel, Mumbai, M.S., India.
He has worked as a House Officer in Skin and V.D. at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and Hospital, Sion, Mumbai, M.S., India. He has worked as Medical officer in Skin Department of Rajawadi Hospital, Ghatkopar, Mumbai, M.S., India.
He has worked as a core committee member of AIDS Research and Control Centre (ARCON) which is a collaborative program of Government of Maharashtra and The University of Texas, Houston, U.S.A. from 1994 till 2004.
He is Hon. Dermatologist and founder Director ARCON-(VCTC) at Rajiv Gandhi Medical College and CSM Hospital, Kalwa (Thane Municipal Corporation- TMC)

Indian Association of Dermatologist, Venereologist and Leprologist (IADV&L) Maharashtra State Branch in 2011 – honoured him with Dr C.K.Jagavkar Award for ” Serodiscordant couples can deliver HIV Negative baby without infecting the uninfected partner.”
